ABLE is a non profit community organisation with a passion for supporting children and young people with Special Learning Needs (SLN).
We are an organisation that work with children and young people among Black and Minority families in Kent, to assist the removal of stigmatisation and barriers to their achievements in life.
Our mission is to assist to remove stigma and negative attitudes towards Special Learning Needs (SLN) among members of black and minority community.
ABLE support is a community organisation that started in April 2017 and we are based in Kent. The group was founded by Ruth who has more than 10 years of experience in education. We support, encourage, and inform families with children and young people with special learning needs up to the age of 25 years. The focus of the group is to raise awareness to families from Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) that have children with special needs and to discuss challenges of how to break down barriers from negative attitudes, and stigmatization among BAME families.
We provide a safe environment and we offer families a range of support. No formal diagnosis or professional referral is necessary to access ABLE support. We are hoping to extend and work with more families in Kent. ABLE has reached out to more than 80 families and we are hoping to reach out and work with more families in Kent. We have been privileged to work with passionate and committed volunteers to help us drive our mission and values by putting families at the heart of our services. Our passion is to help make a life-changing difference in the lives of children and young people with special learning needs.
